|
There has been conducted literature review addressing functional assessment(FA) in general, but little focuses on practical utility of FA for people with developmental disabilities. The aim of this study was to comprehensively review research on functional assessment of problem behaviors of people with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities. Total 48 studies which had published in 2000-2014 were analyzed along a number of dimensions related to subject, types of problem behaviors, interventions followed by FA, terms used in procedures of FA, and the methodology in which FA conducted and analyzed. Based on findings, recommendations and implications for further research and practices related to FA for the populations with developmental disabilities were provided.
